The final stage begins at Artiga de Lin. Ahead of us stands the impressive climb to Coll de Toro, a difficult step of our journey that will test us from the start. Step by step, with the determination of those who know that the path is long but rewarding, we climb a trail that becomes increasingly steeper. When we finally reach the top, the view rewards us with a spectacular panorama of the Aneto and Maladeta Massif, with its majestic glacier shining in the sun. What a sight!
We walk to the Forau d’Aigualluts, and there we meet Xavi, the guide who will lead us in the next day’s ascent of Aneto. With him, we head to the Renclusa refuge, where a short but exciting night awaits us.
Barely rested, it’s time to get up at 4:30 am in the morning. We prepare ourselves with headlamps illuminating the rocky path to Portillon. Once we are there, we put on our crampons and advance determinedly over the glacier that leads us to the Collado de Coronas. The summit of Aneto is shrouded in thick fog, but our determination never wavers. With each step, with each effort, we get closer to our dream. We reach the feared Paso de Mahoma, and thanks to Xavi’s help, we bravely cross it. And finally… Boom!
We have conquered the highest peak in the Pyrenees! This moment is the culmination of twelve days full of adventures, new lessons and friendship. For all of us, this has been the highest mountain we have ever climbed, and the emotion of having achieved it together is indescribable.
This summer will forever be carved in our memories. We will never forget the experiences we lived and the people we shared this journey with. It has been an unforgettable adventure!
